STRAND Book Store features my photo on their Instagram

STRAND Book Store, NYC

I was attending the High School of Art & Design in NYC when I first heard about STRAND’s bookstore in Union Square. My illustration teachers would talk about how it had a great selection of books on anatomy, so I used to stop in on my way home from school.

The store had a very low-key relaxed vibe, so it was a great place to just sit and chill out with some books on illustration and 3D for a few hours. It quickly became an after-school routine
of mine.

Something very cool happened

For Halloween 2018 I posted the following image to my Instagram feed and tagged it @strandbookstore. Later that night STRAND re-posted it. I photographed this in front of STRAND’s 42nd st Times Square’s kiosk. It’s a great feeling to see a piece of art I created become connected to the store I used to frequent so many years ago.

I cropped the photo to follow Instagram’s image guidelines and applied one of my self developed “Blade Runner” 80’s inspired Lightroom presets to the photo for a vintage/cinematic look.
